While our history spans thousands of years, as a republic, we are young, vibrant, and full of boundless energy. When we became independent in 1947, the world watched a nation, bruised by colonial rule, rise with unyielding determination. And on January 26, 1950, when we adopted our Constitution, we proudly declared to the world that we would govern ourselves, guided by the principles of justice, equality, and liberty. That day was not just the birth of a republic but the beginning of a promise; a promise to ourselves and the generations to come. As a proud Indian, I see this promise reflected in our incredible diversity. We speak different languages, follow varied traditions, and celebrate countless festivals, yet we remain one.
