Someone’s Dream is Someone’s Toy
Someone’s dream is someone’s
toy; such a simple line, yet it holds so much truth. We live in a world where
people have different lives, different needs, and different struggles. What
feels ordinary to one person may feel like a miracle to another. Something we
forget in a corner of our room might be the exact thing someone is praying for
every single day. We often fail to see this difference because we are so used
to our routine, our surroundings, and the comfort we live in.
Think of a school-going boy
who owns a bicycle. His parents bought it on his birthday. He rode it happily
for a few days, but slowly, his excitement faded. The bicycle now stands in the
corner of the garage, gathering dust. The boy doesn’t even notice it anymore.
It’s just a toy for him now, something he has moved on from. Now think of
another boy, who walks to school every day, sometimes in rain, sometimes under
the burning sun. His feet ache, his shoes are worn out, but he keeps walking.
Every time he sees someone riding a bicycle, his eyes light up. He dreams of
having one too, not a fancy one, just something to make his journey easier. For
him, a bicycle is a dream. Something he thinks about day and night. What lies
forgotten in one boy’s garage is the very thing the other boy hopes to own one
day.
This is the reality of life.
Many of us live with things we don’t even notice, while others long for those
same things. This is not just about material items like bicycles, phones, or
shoes. It’s also about things like love, peace, health, and happiness. Some
people are surrounded by love and still feel alone. Some have a job and still
complain. Some have food on the table but are picky. Meanwhile, someone out
there is eating half a meal and wishing they had just a little more. Someone is
facing rejection after rejection, praying for a job offer. Someone is sitting
quietly, hoping someone checks on them, while we leave messages unread.
The point is not to feel
guilty. The point is to become aware. Once we start noticing these things, we
start living differently. We become a little more grateful for what we have and
a little more kind towards others. We stop complaining as much. We stop showing
off. We stop taking things and people for granted. Even small actions matter.
Smiling at someone who looks tired, offering help to someone who’s struggling,
sharing a meal, giving your old clothes or books to someone who needs them;
these little things may not mean much to us, but they could mean everything to
someone else.
We don’t realise it often, but
we all hold someone’s dream in our hands, sometimes carelessly. And when we
understand that, we start treating what we have with more respect. We stop
calling our blessings “ordinary.” We begin to value things more deeply; our
family, our home, our job, our time, our health, even the quiet moments.
Because somewhere out there, someone is still waiting, still working hard,
still dreaming to have even a piece of what we already do.
So, the next time you feel
like complaining or comparing, pause and think. You might already be living the
life someone else dreams of. What’s your toy today, was once your dream too.
And what’s your toy now, might be someone else’s dream. Life changes like that.
All it takes is a little gratitude and a heart that notices.
